Aronia is a very hardy deciduous bush which attracts attention at three times during the growing season. In spring, the clusters of white flowers are showy from a distance. In the fall the bushes get loaded with clusters of purple edible berries which linger, and the fall foliage is brilliant tones of red and orange. This batch of seedlings matures at 4’ to 5’+

Size: 4 - 6’ It will grow taller near other plants reaching for light. Shape: rounded

Growth rate: fast with water and nutrients

Type: Broadleaf, deciduous Foliage: Leaves up to 3” long, ovate, pointed, finely serrated, glossy green

Seasonal foliage color: Leaves turn bright red colors in fall

Flowers: White, 1/2 inch across, in clusters of around 20 blooms, in spring

Features: The flowers, berries, and fall colored leaves are all attractive.

Growing conditions: Sun to part shade. Aronia can do well in a wide range of soil types and conditions, from wet to dry. Well drained rich soil will promote faster growth and larger plants

Climate zone: down to zone 3 Uses and comments: Besides being a beautiful bush, the tart fruits are very high in health promoting polyphenols. Suitable for growing near ponds and very wet areas.
