Foliage: Leaves alternate, sticky, dark green, with 3 principal veins. They are up to 3/4” wide and 2” long, with a few course teeth on margins
Flowers: The plant is dioecious, separate male and female plants. Both appear similar from a distance in bloom, covered in small creamy white blooms
Features: Extremely drought tolerant, tough, grows a fast root system. Evergreen. Attractive to certain butterflies and moths. It is supposed to be fire resistant.
Growing conditions: Will grow anywhere. In WA state only found in a few locations. Likes sea cliffs and bluffs, dry open sites, in full sun.
Climate zone: to zone 5
Uses and comments: Vigorous root system, can help stabilize loose soil. Good for hedges and bank stabilization.
