A broadleaf evergreen shrub with small glossy dark green leaves with little prickles on the end. The shrub can become 5 - 10’ tall eventually,with a wide arching form, is densely branched, and has thorns. Covered with showy, abundant bright yellow orange flowers in spring. The fruits are dark purple, round, and waxy (and not for human consumption). Full sun to part shade, well drained soil, likes some moisture, but drought tolerant. Native to Chile and Argentina.
